SPS breaks ground for sports complex

Sapulpa (OK) Public Schools broke ground Wednesday for the construction of the SPS Westside Baseball and Softball Complex.
“This is going to be a wonderful addition for the district,” said SPS Superintendent Rob Armstrong. “I’m so excited for the players and the coaches. Especially the players!”
This multisport complex, designed by Reed Architecture and Interiors of Sapulpa, will feature dedicated baseball and softball fields. Both will boast synthetic turf, lighting systems for night games, and bleachers.
A 20,000+ square-foot facility between the fields will offer concessions and restrooms along with a full-size indoor practice infield with synthetic turf, batting cages, locker rooms for both the junior high and varsity teams, and offices for the coaches.
Construction manager D.C. Bass and Sons Construction Co. of Sapulpa hopes to finish the project by next spring.
“This project will bring the Sapulpa Public Schools softball and baseball programs together for the first time,” said Project Architect Bryan Broaddrick.
“Currently the softball and baseball facilities are on opposite sides of our town,” he said. “In fact, that baseball field sits on city property rather than school property. It’ll be really exciting to consolidate baseball and softball activities here, just east of the soccer and track stadium.”
